"APPLAUS"

am 11.12.1999 wollte dieter eigentlich einen schlussakkord setzen. da er derlei schon früher angekündigt hatte und es niemals eingehalten hatte galubte ihm natürlich keiner. ich auch nicht. da ich aber just in dieser zeit nach thailand auswanderte sollte es mindestens "unser" letztes konzert werden (war's dann auch nicht...). zu diesem anlass schrieb dieter das lied applaus - ich hatte genau einen tag zeit eine begleitung zu machen - dann gingen wir "live". das lied wurde niemals aufgenommen. hier der ton einer videoaufnahme vom 11.12.99, deshalb nur in dürftiger tonqualität.

"JIMMY O'HAGGERTY" radio-mix

für die aufnahmen von "roti socke" suchten wir einen produzenten mit frischen ohren. ich hatte kurz vorher mit der thomas diethelm band eine cd bei phil carmen eingespielt und fand ihn toll. sein arrangeur rolf krüger hat meiner meinung nach kongeniale arrangements beigefügt. ein gutes beispiel dafür ist die flöte in "jimmy o'haggerty" die ich ganz toll finde. damit dieses lied eher im radio gespielt würde (wurde es aber eh nicht) hat er einen radio-mix mit bass und dezentem schlagzeug gemacht. wird in dieser version nur bei radio munot in schaffausen gespielt - exklusiv...

i don't know many people in the music industry as gifted as monika eggler - she is not only an amazing song writer but an equally fantastic arranger/procucer, multi instrumentalist and singer. wow. over the years i had a few chances to play along with her, two of these songs mark our last session. i absolutely love them but so far she never published them. i am not very proud of my fretless e-bass (steinberger) playing on that particular day (had obviously cotton in my ears...), but the songs are never the less great.

thomas' music was never really "radio music" - not commercial enough - but was played here and there, especially the instrumental tracks. to make them more radio like i made a radio cut out of these four songs - mainly shorter. they have been played then actually a lot, of course mainly at radio munot where i was musical director at that time :-)
